Kensington & Chelsea TMO appoints interim chief executive

The board of Kensington & Chelsea Tenant Management Organisation (KCTMO) has appointed Elaine Elkington as its interim chief executive. She is very experienced in the delivery of high profile public services, such as housing and regeneration, across a variety of complex and diverse urban areas.

She fills a post vacated by Robert Black, who stepped aside as CEO last month in order to concentrate on assisting with the Grenfell Tower fire tragedy investigation and inquiry.

Elaine Elkington spent nearly 10 years in a senior position at Birmingham City Council, latterly as Strategic Director of Homes and Neighbourhoods, responsible for housing and a range of local services such as libraries and community centres. Previously she had been Director of Housing & Regeneration at the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. She is a governing board member of the Chartered Institute of Housing.

Fay Edwards, Chair of KCTMO, said: "We've been very fortunate to secure the services of an outstanding housing professional. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience which will serve our 10,000 residents well."

Elaine Elkington added: "I'm looking forward to working with our resident-led board and with staff to move the organisation forward at a business-critical time and supporting our desire for continued service improvements."

"As someone who has worked in housing for a long time I am of course extremely sympathetic to the tragedy of the Grenfell Tower fire, the awful scenes witnessed that night and the ongoing suffering."
