Residents safe following fire at Trellick Tower

Residents were allowed to return to their homes last night (Wednesday 19 April) after a fire broke out in Trellick Tower at approximately 9.20pm leaving one flat gutted.

The London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service and representatives from the Council and Kensington & Chelsea Tenant Management Organisation (KCTMO) were at the scene.

A number of people were evacuated from the block and all were allowed to return to their homes by 11.20pm, apart from the occupants of the fire-damaged flat who were provided temporary accommodation by KCTMO and the occupants of an adjacent flat who stayed with relatives.

The London Ambulance Service treated one person at the scene for smoke inhalation and the London Fire Brigade has confirmed that there were no other casualties.

The London Fire Brigade conducted a search of the building above the fire and concluded that there was little smoke damage to the building as a whole. They handed the site back to the KCTMO at 11.45pm.

KCTMO staff will be visiting residents this afternoon (Thursday 20 April) to address any concerns.
