Meet our people

Everine Shand

Everine Shand

Community Officer

Office: Whitchurch House Sheltered Scheme

Hometown: ?

Education: Churchfields High School, West Bromwich and University of Westminster

Introduction: I'm not really a careerist, my main interests are the things I do outside of work like supporting my family, my daughter in particular, and my voluntary/community work. So in that sense I've achieved all that I have set out to achieve.

Why did you join KCTMO?

I was made redundant at the Audit Commission when I came across the advert for a six month maternity cover. Whilst at the Audit Commission I was the Officer responsible for the coordinating and planning of the KCTMO Housing Inspection, so I had a good insight of the organisation. I also took part in the inspection and was blown away by the fantastic comments and feedback received from residents and staff alike. Since then I've been contracted to work in a number of departments in different roles including a stint at the Town Hall as Executive Officer, Adjudication. I covered the Community Office on a temporary basis prior to it being advertised. I applied in December 2010 and was successful in the permanent position.

What do you like about working for KCTMO?

We work closely with service users which include residents and others. We provide a high quality of service and have delivered a comprehensive range of improvements since I've been here. Staff are committed and enthusiastic and customer focused. Due to the generous nature of colleagues, their caring nature and their willingness to help, I have learnt an awful lot since I started here.   Overall I have worked with some fantastic people and have made some good friends!   KCTMO is definitely the place to be!

What are your goals and what would you like to achieve?

I'm not really a careerist. My main interests are the things I do outside of work like supporting my family, my daughter in particular, and my voluntary/community work. So in that sense I've achieved all that I have set out to achieve.  My goal, in the not too distant future, is to work as a Voluntary Service Officer in Africa or some other parts of the world.

What's unique about your role?

No two days are the same.  The job is varied. Coupled with the diverse residents I engage with within the Sheltered Housing scheme and in the community, it means that I often learn as much as I contribute.  Of all the roles within and outside of the organisation, the Community Officer Role is by far the most rewarding and satisfying. The little everyday tasks, support given and encouragement offered  to residents can bring about the most profound changes to their world.

Customer Services Team Leader

Office: Network Hub

Hometown: Harrow Middlesex

Education: Secondary School

Introduction: I hope to make the team that I work with the best that they can be in the role that they undertake for KCTMO. Collectively, the Customer Service Management team and advisors have already made a big step in that direction.

Why did you join KCTMO?

The job was advertised at a time when I'd been made redundant from the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham.

What do you like about working for KCTMO?

There's a certain energy and freshness which I don‘t think is present in other ALMOs, although KCTMO is not an ALMO per say. I think it can be recognised as an organisation that takes good ideas forward, allows creativity in the development of the services and has a drive to be recognised as the best in housing services. KCTMO is willing to invest in the staff and the organisation to make this so.

What are your goals and what would you like to achieve?

I hope to make the team that I work with the best that they can be in the role that they undertake for KCTMO. Collectively, the Customer Service Management team and advisors have already made a big step in that direction. This was marked by being presented with the Most Improved Team award at the last staff conference. I want to do the best job I can, not just in the Customer Services, but in any capacity within the business.

What's unique about your role?

The role isn't necessarily unique because you have two team leaders, but jointly, the uniqueness of the role is the number of staff that we are responsible for and the frontline responsibilities like telephone contact with residents and reception services.
